In the publication, it is said that the governor debar members of the two communities attacked by the herdsmen from retaliating, stating that the Edo State government will not allow a counter-attack.
The governor is said to have informed community members that violence must not be matched with violence, as government sort for a perdurable means of solving the problem of herdsmen in the State.
''my administration will not tolerate the killing of any herdsman in the state. Our people should not think of any reprisal attack, as government will not tolerate it under any guise'', he is quoted saying
He went further to inform community members that security operatives are on ground to put the situation under control.
We prioritise the safety and well being of lives and property and we will do everything within our power to resolve the recurrent crisis peacefully, he added
He is said to have cautioned the people that retaliating will heighten the tension in the community, and that whoever kills a Fulani herdsman will face the full wrath of the law.
''Fulani herdsmen are Nigerians, and we cannot forbid them from carrying out their legitimate businesses in the state'', he said.
