Nigerian Big Boy Arrested For Defrauding A Swiss Woman $18,000 In Dating Scam

A Nigerian cyber criminal otherwise known as ''yahoo yahoo'' has been arrested and arraigned before Justice Obile, of the Federal High Court, sitting in Warri, Delta State.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to an 8- count charge of conspiracy, and obtaining money by false pretence.
Speaking in court, counsel to the prosecutor, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, M. T. Iko, alleged that the defendant, identified as Leeroy Egebe had befriended the petitioner, Vivian Varotto-Guigoz, a Swiss National, disguising to be Amedeo William Dante on a dating site.

Leeory had registered a fake profile on the ''Badoo'' website, with an alias,  Amedeo Dante William, Alhassan Davide, posing to be an Italian, resident in the United Kingdom.

The defendant had carefully lured Vivian into a romantic relationship, before requesting thousands of Euros from the victim, which was wired in 5 instalments to bank accounts in the UK, Canada and Nigeria, between May to October 2015.

Vivian alleged that the defendant communicated with her using Canadian telephone numbers, UK numbers and at some point Nigeria lines.

She transferred thousands of Euro to a Nigerian bank account belonging to one; Alhassan Davide and Edin Obaro.
Counsel to the defendant, K.D Alufe,  made a bail application, which the presiding judge obliged, granting the defendant bail in the sum of N3 Million and one surety in like sum; who must be a public servant in the Federal or State government service on a grade level of 12.
The case was further adjourned to May 10, 2018 for trial, while the defendant was remanded into custody till his bail terms are met.
