3 Children Die From Candle Fire, While Their Mom Charged Her Mobile Phone

A heartbroken father has reported the death of his 3 children, after his wife locked them indoors, left to her uncle's house to charge her mobile phone.

The deceased identified as; 7 year-old Chidera, Destiny,7, and 5-year-old Precious, were visiting their mother, Ugochi, who had been separated from their father, Fidelis Ezenwa Amalaha.

According to Amalaha, his  estranged wife picked up the children December 17, 2017, to spend the Christmas holiday with her, only for his father to receive a phone call from the president general of Ohia Development Union, Ohia, Abia State, two days later that his children had died from a fire that engulfed Ugochi's apartment.

The distraught father explained , they later gathered that his children lost their life as a result of Ugochi's carelessness; she locked the children in their bedroom, placed a candle on the edge of the chair to light up the room, as there was no power.

She left to the house of a relative nearby to charge her phone with a generator, where she is said to have fallen asleep.

Back in her apartment, the candle she had placed on the chair fell on top of a bag, which caused a fire.The room was completely covered in smoke, causing the siblings to die from asphyxiation.
