10 Nollywood Stars Whose Acting Career Ended After Marriage.


Stephanie Okereke

Stephanie Okereke was a household name in the entertainment industry, between 2000-2011. She graced our TV screens with her acting prowess.

Stephanie, as many may know, was a big contender with the ever green Genevieve Nnaji. 
Stephanie had featured in several Nollywood blockbusters, till she got married in 20012 to her heartthrob, Linus Idahosa, in a star studied wedding in Paris.
During her Nollywood reign, Stephanie featured in not less than 200 movies and was rumored to have an unconfirmed feud with fellow power house, Genevieve Nnaji.

The ex Nollywood diva, left the sight and hearts of Nigeria movie lovers, after she got married and relocated to Germany.
The mom of 3 who decided to put a pause to her acting career and concentrate on being a wife and mother is said to be enjoying marriage life but staging a come back into the acting scene.
During her time off, Sandra is reported to have been working behind the cameras, having a few movies shot in Germany to her credit.

Many will remember the beautiful Dakore Egbuson in the movie, Dangerous Sisters when she played along side Genevieve. The eloquent, locks wearing bombshell took a break from the movie industry,when she married son of  Nigerian billionaire, Chief Harry Akande.

The new wife took time off to adapt to marriage life and raise a family, although it was rumoured that the Akande family was behind her break from the movie scene. The actress has never confirmed nor debunked such gist.
Although temporarily featured in a few movies , the actress has not been able to get all the attention she previously had from movie lovers, her career has never been able to recover since the time off, her fan base has since decline, as new faces continues to takeover the movie industry.


Regina Askia

Only those of a certain age will remember the grey-eyed ex beauty queen, Regina Askia.
She became a Nollywood favorite after her role in the movie; full moon.
Now a registered nurse in the United States, Regina Askia left the Nigeria movie industry for good after marriage. Changing profession, relocating abroad and getting married to a US Citizen.
With a blossoming career in nursing, a husband and two adorable children, Regina could be said to be living the American dream.



Dolly Nwachukwu set the pace for other Ibo actresses, cementing her footprint in the sands of time, with the movie ‘Deadly Affair’ but it seems the once Nollywood goddess vanished into thin air after marriage, as nothing has been heard from her nor has she featured in any movie ever since.


Popular face in Yoruba movies, Opeyemi Ayeola is one of those who choose life abroad to an acting career in Nigeria.
 The light skinned beauty relocated to the United Kingdom after getting married to Olayiwola Owolonse in 2007.


Victoria Inyama, the soft spoken actress was a one time favorite of Nigerian movie lovers, till she decided to give it all away for marriage in the United States. The actress is blessed with 3 children.


Billionaire wife and ex face of Delta soap, Caroline Ekanem quit her blossoming acting career in 2007, when she got married to foremost business man and politician, Musa Danjuma.
The marriage has since crashed, but the socialite manages to remain in the news with her ''divalicious''controversial personality.

Maureen Solomon

She started her  Nollywood journey in 2000, when she was casted in a movie directed by Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen;  Alternative. Maureen was a promising actress, she made her breakthrough in the entertainment scene when she stared in , In Her Shoes and  Leap of Faith, her career however took a backward turn when in 2005 when she got married to her Banker husband, they are blessed with 3 adorable children.



Folashade Omoniyi - Lepa Shandy

She is one of the numerous promising actresses that quit acting to pursue life abroad, after tying the knot with her Dublin based boyfriend, Dayo David Adewale. The once leading actress have been featured in few movies, focusing on being married and raising a family.
