60-Year-Old Nigerian Man Marries 15-Year-Old Teenager From India

An Indian family is being called out online for selling off their teenage daughter to a wealthy Nigerian who is 50 years older than her.



According to the twitter user who made the story public online, the 15-year-old girl from Karnataka coastal family is married to a man in his 60's, on her parents consent.

The ceremony which was said to have taken place in Karnataka, India, saw family and friends of the bride in attendance.

Shockingly, when the story was shared online, spectators from India who reacted to the post, did not see anything wrong in what was being done. It seems to be a norm in that part of the world.

Some  who commented questioned why the individual who posted the photos would add a description ''God save her'' stating that the couples are not doing anything new, they are only following the footsteps of their ancestors.

Another, with a twitter handle prashanthbmw wrote ''If you couldn’t feed them why do u need half a dozen kids? I couldn’t see her with that old age so called person! Shameful to u r community''.

It was obvious, poverty was the major reason why the marriage was consummated.

One would wonder why a Nigerian, irrespective of his religion will marry an under aged girl, that does not align with the Nigerian culture
