18-Year-Old Stella, student of Gateway Excel College Ogeneago Otukpa, Benue State has lost her life carelessly in the hands of a medical laboratory scientist parading himself as a doctor.
The unfortunate incident which happened on Thursday, sent Stella's teachers and schoolmates into mourning.
A N 25,000 appendectomy performed by a novice, had sent Stella to an early grave.
According to a post shared by Itodo Samuel Anthony, a teacher at Gateway Excel College, the ''quack doctor'' who works as a lab scientist at the government hospital in Otukpa, had opened his private clinic, where he would usually refer patients to seek specialist help when they were sent to the lab. section of the hospital to take test. There he would tear them up and perform cheap, risky, life-threatening operations on them.
The fake doctor is said to have conducted several surgeries on members of Otukpa community, including the younger brother of the deceased Agbo.
Mr Anthony further mentioned that there are a total of six medical doctors in the area, members of the community should identify their hospital and desist from visiting quacks.
He questioned why the government is not taking necessary measures to curb the menace of medical laboratory scientist assuming the positions of doctors, taking lives on a daily basis.
