A drunk man dining at a Chinese restaurant located at Adeniran Ogunsanya street, Surulere, Lagos has died, after ingesting a substantial amount of insecticide, thinking it was water.
The incident which is reported to have happened on Saturday, 24 March 2018, when an unidentified man left a wedding ceremony at Aguda, Surulere, decided to hang out with his friends at the eatery.
The victim had ordered for a bottle of water, which was served on his table, unknown to him, a staff at the restaurant while cleaning had unintentionally left behind a bottle of insecticide on the table where he was seated.
The tipsy guest while trying to reach for his bottle of water, grabbed the insecticide and gulped it down his throat, not realising what he had drank.
Few minutes later, he is said to have become very restless and severely fatigued, his friends rushed to his aid, trying to figure out what was going on with him, it was at that point he informed them, he had drank a ''funny tasting'' liquid, which he thought was water.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead upon arrival.
His friends thereafter lodged a complaint at the Bode Thomas police station, Surulere, officers of the command then arrested the restaurant manager.
