Vulcanizer Butcher's Wife To Death In Akwa Ibom

The death of a middle-aged woman has thrown Mbiabam community of Akwa Ibom into mourning. A vulcanizer identified as Nkere Uta, is said to have murdered his wife in cold blood, suspecting she was having an extra marital affair.

The slain woman identified simply as Bella, was butchered with a machete by her husband,deep cuts to her head, hands and wrist led to her death.
The mother of 5,who is said to be in her early 30's met her untimely death on Monday February 12.

When first reporters visited Mbiabam community, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State to get first hand information on the murder,the culprit was boldly sitting in front of the compound where he has committed the crime, threatening to kill any person who dare confronts him.

It was gathered that the deceased has been suffering abuse from her husband who feels very insecure because of her beauty and that at some point Mr Nkere had suffered from dementia but had recovered.

On the day before the murder, the couple had gone to church together,indicating there was no pending discord between the two.
Women of Mbiabam community who wept and watched in utter shock the remains of the slain woman lying on the floor could not stop talking about how good the deceased was, hardworking and loved by all who came in contact with her while she was alive.

The Police spokesperson, Akwa Ibom State,Mr Odiko McDon,when contacted, confirmed the unfortunate incident, stating that the culprit had been taken into custody, and upon interrogation, confessed to the crime and claimed to have killed her because of his suspicion of infidelity.
Mr Odiko further stated that the offender will be charged to court very soon.
