Issuer Of Fake PhD To Grace Mugabe; Ex Zimbabwe First Lady, Arrested

Grace Mugabe                        Levi Nyagura

Levi Nyagura, vice chancellor of the University of Zimbabwe, has been arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission following his involvement in the issuance of a fake Doctorate degree to former first lady, Grace Mugabe.

The Zimbabwean anti-corruption investigators on Friday stated that the arrest was made after an investigation into the PhD being flaunted by Mrs Mugabe.

It was revealed that the ex first lady was awarded the degree in 2014 barely one year of enrolling into the university. To earn a doctorate degree, an individual would have spent several years conducting extensive research and writing papers.

According to Goodson Nguni, spokesperson of the agency, ''Nyagura has been arrested. We cannot have people who award fake degrees''

He stated that the professor will be  charged with abuse of office, he however refused to comment on whether the former first lady and recipient of the degree will face any charges.

It should be recalled that Grace Mugabe's PhD first raised eye brows and caused a media frenzy in 2014, when she graduated from the University of Zimbabwe, 2 months after her enrolment. The ex secretary cum wife and first lady of Robert Mugabe was praised by her loyalist, for her academic prowess after bagging the ''fake'' degree.
