Lagos Pastor Arrested For Armed Robbery

Daniel Onwugbufor, General Overseer at the God's Favour Ministry, situated in the Iba Axis of Lagos State has been arrested for armed robbery.


The suspected was apprehended alongside Israel Animashaun in Ogun State.
The public relations officer of the Ogun State police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi stated this on sunday when briefing news men on the arrest. Both suspects were arrested on February 1 by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, led by Uba Adams.

The suspects were apprehended following an inteligence report during investigation of a series of car snatching report brought before the command.

According to the police spokesperson, “Their efforts paid off when one of the snatched car, a Lexus RX 330 SUV, was traced to pastor Onwugbufor at his Iba residence which led to his immediate arrest and subsequently the apprehension of Animashaun who is an active member of a three-man gang of armed robbery syndicate specialised in snatching of exotic cars at gun point,”

Upon interrogation, Mr Israel Animashaun confessed to the crime, stating that he and two of his gang members snatched the SUV at Ajah area of Lagos state and transported it to Pastor Onwugbufor whoes part in the gang is to sell the stolen vehicles.

During his confession,Mr Animashaun stated that the pastor paid him the sum of  N350,000 for the car after using it for two weeks before sending it to another unidentified accomplice at Onitsha who is yet to be arrested.

He futher stated that on one occasion, he had stolen a Samsung Galaxy mobile phone,and recieved N35,000 for it from Pastor Animashaun.

Mr Opeyemi however stated that at the beginning of the interrogation, the pastor however denied knowing Mr Animashaun and swore to have never met him, but after overwhelming evidence was put before him, he confessed to the crime, blaming it on the devil.

Pastor Onwugbufor is said to have promised to work with the police to help bring his accomplice in Onitsha to book and showed sincere remorse for his involvement in the crime.
