A 34-year-old mother in California, USA has pleaded guilty to murder torture of her 8-year-old son.
The mother who is said to have on several occasions, abused, starved and brutally inflicted severe pain on her son, pleaded guilty to a murder charge.
In other to escape the death penalty, Pearl Fernandez took a plea deal, under the terms of a plea agreement, Fernandez is expected to be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2013 death of her son, Gabriel Fernandez.

Pearl Fernandez accepted responsibility to the charge of first- degree murder and acknowledged connection to the allegation of unlawful premeditated killing involving torture. She is scheduled to be sentenced June 7, 2018.
Her boyfriend, Isauro Aguirre, convicted last year of the same charge is facing the possibility of a death sentence, in his sentencing scheduled for March 8, 2018.
Gabriel Fernandez is said to have died 8 days after being admitted for severe injuries to his skull, ribs and third degree burns; inflicted on him by his biological mom and her boyfriend.
In relation to Gabriel's death, prosecutors have also charged 4 county social workers for negligence and document falsification.
Philip Browning, issuing a statement on behalf of The Department of Children and Family Services stated that the four social workers have since been relieved of their jobs.
Stefanie Rodriguez, 30, Patricia Clement, 65, Kevin Bom, 36, and Gregory Merritt, 60.Currently standing trial, if found guilty of the charges against them could face as much as 10 years in prison.
