Couple Running Baby Factory Arrested In Lagos

50-Year-old Adeola Adebayo has been arrested alongside his wife, Binta Adebayo by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Lagos State Police Command.

The couple were arrested in their home at Treasure close, Igando area of Lagos for allegedly harbouring vulnerable pregnant girls and selling their babies after delivery.Three pregnant women identified as  Onome Oputi, 25, Precious Emmanuel, 27, and Favour Osikwemeh, 19,were freed from the home during the raid.

The Lagos state police command at Igando revealed after investigation that the couple had sold several babies and were planning to do same to the expectant mothers found in their home.

The suspects were on Tuesday paraded by at the Command headquarters by the State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal. They however denied any involvement in the alleged baby factory operation and stated that the pregnant women found in their custody were their employees at the shop where Binta sold drinks in whole sale.

Binta while denying the allegation, stated that one of the pregnant women is her daughter-in-law and that she has two grand children, if she was part of a baby factory racket, how come she did not sell her grand children.

Imohimi Edgal explained that the suspects who usually sold babies without the consent of their mothers will be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for prosecution.

The victims released during the raid are all in their third trimester with Favour Osikwemeh, being seven months pregnant, Precious Emmanuel,Seven months pregnant and Onome Puti, nine months pregnant and due to deliver within few days.
