The suspect who is said to have earlier prophesied that the victim will be kidnapped, gained the trust of his vulnerable guardians who readily accepted to send the young child to stay temporarily with the pastor for prayers and protection.

The incident which all started in January, 2018, when Oluchukwu in company of his grand parents went to Prophet Udemezue for counselling. It was gathered that the young child had lived with the pastor for about a month, enrolled in a nearby school for N 45,000 which was paid by his grand parents.

However, things took a drastic turn in February when a group of sympathizers returned a visibly distraught Oluchukwu to his family. The young boy explained to his Aunt how on a particular night, the clergy has invited him to see an X rated film on his phone, before rubbing a liquid substance suspected to be oil on his male organ and inserting it into his anus.

On hearing this, the shocked family immediately reported the matter to security operatives.
According to Oluchukwu's Aunt, after the clergyman was apprehended, it was later discovered that the enrollment fee at the school were her Nephew was attending was N 25,000 and not N 45,000 as claimed by the pastor and he only made a part payment of N 9,000.

Prophet Udemezue however denied the allegations, arraigned before Magistrate Alero Ezewani, on Thursday 15, February on a two count charge of child defilement and rape, the suspect made a not guilty plea to the charges brought against him.

Magistrate Ezewani, adjourning the case till March 13, 2018 released the suspect  on a N 100,000 bail with one surety in like sum, after the suspect’s lawyer, Mr. Inyang, told the court that the victim's family had decided an out of court settlement.

Human rights activist, Mr. Gwamnishu Harrison, however, took up the case when he overheard the defendant's lawyer asking for the phone number of a member of the victim's family, to arrange a meet up and give her money for damages. All these are said to have transpired inside the court premises before the hearing.

According to Gwamnishu ''I could not believe what I was hearing. I told the man right there that I would not allow her to collect the money and that I was taking over the case. He challenged me that I should not intervene since I was not the complainant.

I told the woman not to release her phone number or collect any money. The woman later told me that when she wanted to take the boy to the pastor for protection, she even gave him (Udemezue) some money.

I told the boy’s aunt that we needed to take him to the hospital for tests and treatment and that I would take care of the expenses.

But the policeman in charge of the case said there was no need and that they had already taken the boy to the hospital. But the boy said he had not got any treatment.''

When reporters contacted the clergy man on phone, he further denied the allegation of rape against him, calling it fake and masterminded by fraudsters in his vicinity. He was quoted saying

''It is fake news.Yahoo boys in the neighbourhood are the ones trying to set me up''.

When asked why a 10-year-old boy  under his care would want to raise such allegations against him, ''I don’t know what they could have said to the boy to make him say such a thing'' he said.

When he was asked to confirm if the boy was brought to him for counselling, received a prophesy and was placed under his protection, the clergy man is said to have hanged up the phone. Further attempts to contact him proved abortive as he was no longer taking calls put through to his line.
