Nigerian Man Stabs Girlfriend To Death In Germany




A Nigerian asylum seeker identified as Mr Anthony I, is on trial at Muenster, Germany after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death.
Prosecutor says Mr Anthony brutally murdered
Soopika Paramanathan, a 22-year-old German student known locally as the “Angel of Ahaus” for her volunteer work with refugees.

Anthony and Soopika is said to have been in a relationship until Feb 11 when she was murdered
after ending their friendship.
Prosecutors claims Soopika died to multiple stab wounds to her neck, back and breast allegedly
inflicted on her by Anthony, he is said to have stabbed her over 50 times.

Prior to the attack, Anthony is said to have purchased a large suitcase which he intended to use in disposing her body after the murder.
Prosecutors say, Soopika defended herself by using peeper spray on Anthony's face after loosing substantial amount of blood.
Anthony was spotted by eye witness stuffing Ms Paramanathan's body in the large suitcase but managed to escape the crime scene , but was later apprehended by the police in Basel, Switzerland two days later.

Anthony and Ms Paramanathan is said to have met in 2016 at a refugee home in Ahaus, Germany, where Anthony  was living and Paramanathan volunteered.

 Anthony is said to have arrived Germany in 2015, filing an asylum application that he was forced to leave Nigeria for being homosexual and his battle with Boko Haram.
His asylum application was in the process of being rejected.

A verdict is expected on Sept. 20, and Anthony could face life in prison in connection with the murder.
