6 Policemen Arrested For Armed Robbery and Attempted Murder


The Lagos State police command has arrested six of their own alongside two 
civilian accomplices on the ground of armed robbery, attempted murder and defilement.

 One of the arrested police officer,Sergeant Sylanus Emoche is said to have fired sporadically in an attempt to shoot a woman in Ajao estate, Lagos.

Although the targeted woman escaped unhurt, an SUV belonging to her, Mrs Okafor Oluchi was damaged in the process.

It is reported that Mrs Oluchi resisted arrested when the police officers and two civilians stormed their compound to confiscate an unregistered Honda Pilot SUV which belongs to her Husband, Mr David Okafor.


The Ajao police division which controls the area was immediately alerted,on getting to the scene the trigger hungry police officer was disarmed and taken along side his two civilian accomplices to the station.

During Police preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the police officers who were in Mr Okafor's house to remove the vehicle were working illegally, as the case was neither documented nor the police division aware of the scheduled arrest.



Confirming the arrest during a press briefing at the Police Officers Mess Ikeja, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, Fatai Owoseni, said at the time of committing the offence, the erring policemen had been demobilised from the Police Mobile Force 20 and subsequently transferred to Kogi State Police Command.

Mr Owoseni also stated that two other police officers have been charged with defilement but he did not disclosed their identities or divulge the circumstances that led to their offense.

The Police Commissioner also revealed that three officers; Benjamin Oboh, Monday Ehijiator and Onyenedu Kennedy attached to the Federal Anti-Robbery Squad, FARS Ipakodo has also been arrested for extortion and will be charged to court accordingly.
