Child falls from car, narrowly avoids being run over in the street

Scary video footage of a toddler falling from a car and just missing being run over by a car is being shared widely today as a reminder for parents to secure their children into car seats, a practice that is usually not adhered to in Thailand.

In traffic near Min Buri intersection, on the outskirts of Bangkok, the video shows a child  falling from the car at exactly the moment the light turns green. Her quick reflexes as she crawls away saves her from having her legs crushed by the back wheel.

Amidst the honking and screaming of spectators, the car continues for about two seconds, the driver apparently unaware of the fact that the door is open and the toddler has falling out.
The car then stops and the little girl gets on her feet and starts walking towards the vehicle. Someone inside the car gets out through the back door and carries the toddler back inside.

“Your kid fell, and you don’t even know!” a woman is heard screaming in the video.

The footage was shared by a Facebook user, by Pornpilin Aeamsaad who witnessed the incident.

“I want the video to be a lesson for parents who have small children that they might want to invest in a car seat, rather than to face an unexpected event,” Pornpilin wrote.
