An elderly woman has reportedly been delivered of a baby boy. Mother and child are healthy and doing quite well.
Be it science, miracle or a combination of both, women are now able to carry a baby to term and deliver in their 50’s and 60’s.
As the world is changing and with improvements in technology and medicine, women are seen having babies after menopause.
Menopause is a decline in the reproductive hormones, which normally occur as a woman approaches her 40’s and 50’. The onset of menopause is signaled at least 12 months before it occurs.
Symptoms ranges from hot flashes, unexplainable weight gain ,delayed or outright loss of menstrual activity.
With technological advancement, the miracle of IVF can now be performed to help women get pregnant before and after menopause.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is one of the many available methods of helping women who have problems have a baby. During the procedure, a viable egg is extracted from the woman’s ovaries and fertilized with a sperm in the laboratory. Once fertilized, the egg ( now called embryo) is transferred into the woman to grow.
