In the penultimate week, a Delta State priestess tied the knot with her heartthrob and fiancé of 4 years.

The marriage was conducted by the traditional head and custodian of the gods. In honor of the deity which the priestess is said to represent on earth, the marriage took place at the riverside.

Nigerians in their usual manner have reacted to the ceremony and union, with some speculating that the groom is also a traditionalist, as no young man will be so bold to marry a priestess or have his marriage ceremony in the river.

TMO reached out to someone who knows the couple for first hand information on why the marriage had to be arranged and conducted by the River.

It was learnt that the couple has been together for several years but the deity did not accept that the priestess be married. After several appeasement to the gods, the deity gave a prophecy to the head traditionalist of the community that the priestess can only get married on the grounds that the marriage will be conducted at the River for the gods to watch and be the VIP’s in the event . Prior to this, sacrifices were made to divorce the priestess from her water husband who lives in the River.

It was after completing these tasks the marriage was done and there’s assurance the couple will live happily and be blessed with many children.
