Why A Family Included The Living Wife In Late Husband’s Burial Announcement Poster

An irate family from Isoko South, Delta State, Nigeria has done what has never been seen nor heard of ; including the picture of a late man’s widow in the funeral  announcement poster.

The deceased, Mr James Okuwe Uwoezi, a native of Irri is reported to have passed on as a result of his wife’s incessant act of adultery. 

In the West and certain parts of Nigeria, it is forbidden that a woman who is married engages in extramarital affairs. It is believed that the gods of the family and deity of the land would cause havoc in her home, sometimes claiming the life of her husband or children.

In the case of the Uwoezi family, it is reported that the 41-year-old James fell ill over a period of time. The family consulted a traditional seer who said the reason for his illness was supernatural. 

His wife was compelled to make a confession, which she did, and the necessary ritual was performed to get Mr James back on his feet.

Despite advice from the family that James separates from his unfaithful wife, the father of 4 forgave his wife and continued the marriage. He loved her dearly and was not willing to lose his home over infidelity.

Not long after, he took ill again , and it was revealed by the family traditionalist his cause of ailment being a strike from the gods , as he had eaten meals prepared by an unfaithful wife.

Okuwe was not lucky this time , as he reportedly passed on before the gods of the family could be appeased.

The irate family chased the wife out of the house and took custody of the 4 minor children.
