My Girlfriend Lied She Was Pregnant, I Found Out After Marriage, She Has No Womb - Nigerian Man Based In Spain

An STB reader from Barcelona, Spain, sent us this story, he instructed us to publish his identity and that of his partner, but to protect the image of both parties, we have decided to withhold the names, using aliases instead.

A young man, Anthony, from Nnewi, Anambra State, is crying out after being "duped" into marrying a 26-year-old graduate of Sociology and Anthropology, from the University Of Benin, Benin City.
According to Anthony, he met Magdalene when he travelled to Lagos in 2015 to celebrate Christmas with his family.

To him, it was love at first sight, Meg was too beautiful to ignore, he was taking an evening drive along the balogun market road when he sighted Meg in company of her friends. She was at that time a member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, and was posted to Lagos.

He offered to give them a ride, but they declined. As fate would have it, two days later, one of the young ladies who were with Meg was at a show hosted by one of the popular Nigerian comedians.
It was her who recognised Anthony. She walked up to him to introduce herself as one of the girls he offered a ride in his SUV  days earlier. He persuaded her to release Meg's phone number, which she did.

A month later, Tony and Meg where already in a serious relationship. His family was in approval, so was hers.
He travelled back to Spain February 2016, he didn't intend to stay that long in Nigeria, but was overwhelmed by "the love of Magdalene".

They stayed in touch, communicating on Facebook messenger and whatsapp daily, she called him a month later, she had missed her period.
He had no doubt it was his, after all he has been sleeping with her unprotected, for the few weeks they were together.

He was elated; a beautiful, educated young woman, who he loves is carrying his child.
He had no second thoughts than to "do the right thing, and do it fast".
Anthony told an STB correspondence, he proposed to Meg over the phone April 2016 and  instructed his family to see her parents to discuss the traditional marriage that same month!.

His mom called on a particular day, while he was at work, to break the news that Meg had suffered a miscarriage.
Meg had gone to his mom's home, crying inconsolable, she had lost the pregnancy.
Although saddened by the loss of his unborn child, it did not change the feelings he had for his fiancee.
By August 2016, he was back in Nigeria, they had their registration of marriage at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry, Lagos.

Meg moved in with his mom after the marriage while Tony went back to Spain to process her family unification visa.
It took close to 7 months before the Embassy of Spain in Nigeria issued Meg a visa to join her husband.

Anthony only discovered Meg had no womb when she had severe menstrual cramp last month, February 2018.
It was so severe that he had to call the ambulance to take his wife to the hospital.
It was during the course of treatment the doctors saw on an ultrasound, her womb has been removed.
Meg was not concerned or shocked about the diagnosis, apparently, she has been aware of her condition before getting married to him.

Tony at this point realised he may have been deceived by the supposed pregnancy she claimed to have "fallen".

"I am confused, this girl only used me to enter abroad, now I cannot deport her or something like that, she have papers" he said.

Spain being a developed European country, Meg was transferred to a shelter after being discharged from the hospital.
Since the incident unfolded she has not seen or spoken to Anthony, neither does she take his calls.

Tony explained to us, he told his family of his findings, they subsequently contacted Megs parents.
There was little or nothing they could do, her family claimed to be as shocked as Tony, saying, they were not aware of their daughter's condition.
