Nigerian Beaten To Death Over Stolen Money In Northern Cyprus

Law enforcement in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on Friday, April 19, 2019 recovered the body of a Nigerian dumped in the forest area, of Haspolat, Lefkosia, TRNC.

The deceased later identified as Walshak Augustine Ngok, a student at the Near East University TRNC is said to have been tortured at an apartment located  at Lavinyum Site in Dikmen, before being strangled to death.

The TRNC police found cuts and bruises to the victim's face, hands and other parts of his body, preliminary autopsy reports revealed he died as a result of blunt force trauma.
According to a report by the Turkish Cypriot daily, Yeniduzen, the deceased was killed over money settlement issues.

12 persons have since been arrested in connection to the death.
Augustine is said to have had a fight with his roommate prior to the murder over money which was alleged to have been stolen from the room.

Rental car used to convey the body


The Turkish Cypriot police took no time to recover the rental vehicle which the suspects used to convey the lifeless body of Augustine from the murder scene to an isolated area where the body was dumped.
 2 persons have since confessed  their involvement in the murder. Amongst the 12 people connected to the death, it is reported that 9 are Nigerians 2 Zimbabweans and a Ghanaian.

It is unclear if the money which resulted in the death of Mr Augustine alleged to have been stolen belonged to his room mate or other persons.
