In light of the current happenings in Edo State of some Palace functionaries who gave a disjointed presentation of the link between the Yoruba and Benin Kingdoms during a visit to Ile Ife, the Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom and heir apparent to the throne, Prince Ezelekhai Ewuare has affirmed that traitors will be dealt with during his reign as Oba.

Responding to a comment made on a video posted to his verified instagram account, the prince accented to the comment which read “cp during your reign we will personally deal with treators”.

Prince Ezelekhai had posted excerpts from a news clip broadcasted by the Independent Television and Radio.

In the broadcast, the former palace chiefs who visited the Ooni of Ife were stripped off their titles as chiefs, the royal beads which is their symbol of authority were retrieved from them before being escorted out of the palace by the Royal seers and banished forever !

The video drew comments from more than a hundred followers of the Crown Prince, with many supporting the move to banishing the erring chiefs.

It should be recalled that the chiefs while at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, claimed that they were palace emissaries, which was a lie, as they were not sent by the Oba of Benin.

The former chiefs knowingly or unknowingly gave an untrue account of how Benin Kingdom was discovered. Portraying that the Yoruba found and named it Ile-Ibinu, meaning “angry people” which was later corrupted by the British to Benin.

The spokesperson of the group went further to say it was the Child to the King of Yoruba that was sent to Benin Kingdom to full over them.

The untrue version narrated at the Ooni’s palace was disrespectful to the Benin Monarchy and the entire indigenous people of Benin.
