Why The Wife Of Mohbad, Omowumi , Is Being Banned From Traveling To UK, USA & Other Countries

 

A “concerned” Nigerian has written a letter to the 13 different consulate domiciled in Nigeria, asking that travel restrictions be imposed on Mrs Omowumi Aloba, wife of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad) and their son Liam Aloba.

According to a letter made available to Punch Metro, human rights activists, Akinola Adelabu-Soul is seeking travel restrictions on Mohbad’s widow, Wumi on the basis of the aforementioned being an integral part of the investigation into the demise of the late singer.

In a letter titled “Urgent Request to Monitor and Prevent Departure of Mohbad’s Wife and Child” , was addressed to  the embassies of ; United States of America, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Brazil, France, Italy, Republic of Cyprus, Canada, Germany, Greenland, Republic of Korea, China, Russia and the Switzerland. 

Adebalu-Soul highlighted that the demise of Mohbad, a singer and public figure was a shock to his fans, fellow artists and Nigerians in general , adding that the circumstances surrounding his demise were questionable.

He went further , urging the embassies to be vigilant and prohibit the departure of Wumi and her child from departing the country until the investigation regarding the passing of Mohbad is completed.

In a letter that reads in part “ recently, the Nigeria music industry suffered a great loss with the untimely demise of a talented artist, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. His passing has left fans and fellow artists in shock, and there are lingering questions concerning the circumstances of his passing”.

Adebalu-Soul noted that so many questions needed to be answered , as well as 24-year-old Omowumi being married and living together with Mohbad at the time of his demise.

He highlighted in his letter to the embassies “… as investigations unfolds, it has come to light that a nurse was connected to the events leading to Mohbad’s passing.The police has exhumed the remains for an autopsy and the situation remains sensitive”.

Adebalu-Soul went further to reiterate that Omowumi should not be allowed to depart Nigeria as her presence in the country is necessary for transparency and accountability in the investigation.
