Husband and Wife Sells 6-Hour-Old Baby For N 850,000 In Imo State

23-year-old Chinonye Oparaocha has been arrested alongside her husband for selling their baby less than 24 hours after he was born.
 Chinonye is said to have delivered on  February 2, 2019  at a clinic along Nekede road in Owerri, Imo state. She had arranged with Confidence Anyanwu, a 28-year-old nursing assistant at the facility, who already had a buyer at hand.

Chninonye with the help of her husband, Amaeze Anyanwu immediately took the baby to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where they were met by the middle-men, Duru Christian and George Iyowuna who were eagerly waiting for them on road side.

The duo thereafter took them to meet the buyer, Mrs. William Cynthia and her husband, who took the baby and handed over the sum of N850,000 in cash to the father of the baby.

Luck however ran out of all the parties involved, when the security operatives dub Scorpion Squad got wind of the crime, swooped into action April 13, arresting Mr and Mrs Williams, who had already named the baby, Abiya William.

The couple having confessed led to the arrest of the birth mother and father, while police make efforts to arrest others involved in the crime.
