God averted what would have been another tragedy, when a Turkish Airlines plane from Istanbul to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport experienced severe turbulence.
According to the Associated Press, not less than 30 passengers sustained injuries, after turbulence tossed the plane, throwing passengers out of their seats, with many suffering bruises, broken legs, limbs and fractured skull.
Spokesperson of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Steve Coleman, briefing AP, said that 28 people were taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens after the plane touched down at 5:35 p.m in New York, with a dozen ambulance waiting standby.
Passengers with bloodied faces; blood smeared on overhead cabin, where visible on a video shared by the airports authority.
Turkish Airlines issued a statement concerning the incident
''Turkish Airlines confirmed that the flight, carrying 326 passengers and 18 crew members, “encountered an unusual turbulence about 40 minutes before landing”. It said it was “deeply saddened by this unfortunate experience, and closely monitors the health status of injured passengers, and is making resources available to them.''
Among these passengers, was the wife of a popular Edo preacher and founder of Miracle Assembly, Pastor Jeffery Iyonawan.
His wife and their toddler were aboard the aircraft, but arrived unhurt.
