Childless Woman Caught Stealing New Born Baby From Hospital Lynched By Angry Mob

As a woman, how far would you go, in the quest of a child, if you are childless , married for several years and approaching menopause?.

In a society where child birth has become the sole purpose of marriage, women see themselves going extreme to fit into the society and be accepted by in laws. The scourge of being labelled as barren is too hard for some to bear.

For the privileged and middle class, adoption and IVF is an option. Lot of women have benefited from the In vitro fertilisation, which usually allows the couple produce twins at a conception.

In Nigeria, IVF and adoption run into hundreds of thousand on Naira, which is not available to the higher population, low income earners, surviving on less than $2 per day.

This is the story of Mary Kulele, a 41-year-old woman from Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa state .
Mary was caught at a hospital in Akwanga where she quietly showed up daily volunteering service to pregnant women.
No one knew if her intention when she set out for this task was genuine, or a calculative effort to abduct a baby when the time was right.

On a fateful day, Mrs Kulele is said to have abducted a day old baby and fled from the hospital premises.

Although the baby was recovered safe, the angry youths in the area took laws into their hands and lynched her.

Luck however ran out of Kulele, when a nurse raised alarm on discovering a baby which was placed on a cot close the mother was missing.
The mother of the day old baby was said to have stepped out of the ward briefly, when Kukele saw an opportunity to carry out her plan.

Mary was accosted by the youths around the area, the baby recovered from her. The angry youth however mounted jungle justice on her, despite her plea for mercy. She begged, crying she had no intention to hurt the baby, but stole him out of desperation and stigma she's been facing as a childless woman.

All her pleas fell on deaf ears, before  police arrived at the scene, the youth had thrown vehicles tyres around her neck, setting her ablaze.
